The web is buzzing today about the new feature that Flickr rolled out yesterday: the ability to upload videos to your account. I have been wondering for some time when this was going to happen, and how they would work it. I have been a Flickr member for the past several years, and started paying for a Pro account (only $25/ year!) about a year ago, which allows for unlimited uploads, bandwidth along with unlimited albums and collections which provides brilliant online organization of all uploaded pictures. I have always thought that having something like this for video would be marvelous (a bandwidth and space hog nonetheless).

Flickr Video doesn’t provide the same service as Flickr Photos, has major restrictions on what you can upload (videos can only be a maximum of 90 seconds long, and no lager than 150MB in size), and as their FAQ page says, they are to be more like a “A long photo”. The playback quality however is crystal clear for a flash player, and holds incredible potential for when they expand the limits in the future (which they hopefully will).

I am a video editor by trade. I first heard of Final Cut Server over a year ago, and was under the Impression that it was supposed to be released this last Fall. I was anxiously waiting for its release, and when it never happened, I slumped into a pit of anxiety wondering if it ever would. So, hopefully you can understand my excitement when I logged on to the internets this morning, and saw a nice message informing me that Final Cut Server is shipping (FINALLY!).

I’m not sure how many people will be too excited about this, but it could potentially make life so much easier for editors around the world.

Now to see if it does what it says it does.

While the “Fake” trailer is actually quite good for what it is, I think it would work fantastic as a spec trailer to get an actual Zelda film made.  And with the amazing fan base that the video game has acquired over the past couple of decades, I don’t think they would have any trouble making money in the box office.   I’ll put my bid in and say that if they go ahead with a movie like this, I’ll be behind it 110% (as if that actually meant anything…hehe)!

Who’s with me on having them do this for real?

There are few actors in Hollywood that I consider to be truly “archaic”, and Charlton Heston was one of them. I was truly saddened when I heard the news this past weekend of his passing as most of us were. I’ve been thinking all day as to what I would write in this post honoring this great actor, but instead of words, I figured this video tribute to him would do a much better job.

Charlton will be greatly missed!
