Legend Of Zelda Movie?

April 07, 2008 By: Michael Nease Category: Entertainment, Movies, film No Comments →

A couple of days ago, I hopped over to IGN.com to see what news was coming out of the video game world. When I got there, I saw what appeared to be a very official trailer for a “The Legend of Zelda” movie!  I clicked on the link, and watched with anticipation.  The acting in the trailer was so-so, the special effects were even cheesier, and all-in-all it wreaked of a higher-end fanboy trailer.  With my suspicions now peaked, I jumped onto IMDB to search for any signs of a real “Legend of Zelda” movie, but nothing turned up.  So, I went back and looked closer at the IGN site, only to discover that the entire trailer was their brilliant idea of an “April Fool’s” joke!

While the “Fake” trailer is actually quite good for what it is, I think it would work fantastic as a spec trailer to get an actual Zelda film made.  And with the amazing fan base that the video game has acquired over the past couple of decades, I don’t think they would have any trouble making money in the box office.   I’ll put my bid in and say that if they go ahead with a movie like this, I’ll be behind it 110% (as if that actually meant anything…hehe)!

After you watch the trailer, you have to watch the behind the scenes clip that accompanies it, I think it’s actually better than the trailer itself:

Who’s with me on having them do this for real?

20 Worst Comic Book Movies…. Ever!

March 30, 2008 By: Michael Nease Category: Comic Book, Entertainment, film No Comments →

Ghost RiderEW.com recently put together a very compelling photo gallery entitled “20 Worst Comic-Book Movies Ever“, and looking through their list of failed super hero flicks, I can’t say I disagree with them one bit.

Their list, topped by Nic Cage’s “Ghost Rider” was comprised of films dating back to the late 1960s through to last year, and includes comic greats such as Superman, Batman and the Fantastic Four, but for the most part, they failed to get anywhere near to their full potential.

Just looking through the list really makes me wonder how anyone was able to get these films released. And maybe even more than that, why some of the amazing actors and actresses that were in them agreed to play the roles.

Here’s the list, I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I did:

  1. Ghost Rider (2007)
  2. The Shadow (1994)
  3. Barb Wire (1996)
  4. Catwoman (2004)
  5. Brenda Starr (1992)
  6. The Phantom (1996)
  7. Daredevil (2003) / Elektra (2005)
  8. Tank Girl (1995)
  9. Fantastic Four (2005)
  10. Sheena (1984)
  11. The Punisher (2004)
  12. Supergirl (1984)
  13. Barbarella (1968)
  14. Howard The Duck (1986)
  15. Steel (1997)
  16. Swamp Thing (1982)
  17. Batman & Robin (1997)
  18. The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
  19. Superman IV: Quest For Peace (1987)

Planet B-Boy

March 28, 2008 By: Michael Nease Category: Entertainment, Movies, film, video 1 Comment →

When you hear the word “Breakdancer”, you probably get images of people in the inner city strangely dancing to hip-hop in semi-gymnastic movements.  Mention the term “Breakdancer” to one of the people doing the dancing, and you’re most likely to be the recipient of a nasty look, or a look that says something like, “You just don’t get it”.  Somebody might even be gracious enough to explain to you that their proper title is “B-Boy” (or B-Girl), and they take their art seriously.

The history of the B-Boy is very interesting, as it finds its roots in the latter half of the 20th century in the Bronx district of New York City, NY, and now finds itself in nearly every country of the world.  B-Boys battle in competitions, both from the simple battles on the streets to the large international competitions like the ones documented in the new film “Planet B-Boy” which came out this past Friday, March 21st.

A couple years ago, when I was living in Nashville, TN, I had the opportunity to hang out with a group of B-Boys, and I must say I was quite impressed with their physical accomplishments.  After watching them do what they do, it gave me a whole new respect  for the dance form.  I think it should be allowed into the Olympics.

Check out the trailer for “B-Boy Planet” below, and let me know what you think.  I’m hoping to see it the first chance I get.  I haven’t looked yet, but my guess is that it won’t be a “wide release”.
