Fighting For Helpless Orphans

October 15, 2007 By: Michael Nease Category: Humanitarian 1 Comment →

I would like to ask you to please take the time to read this post in its entirety. The subject matter is very dear to my heart. Please also see the videos at the bottom of the post as they clearly represent the message I represent:

There are two organizations that I support whole-heartedly because of both what they stand for and what they do. Mostly because they are helping those who have no one else to help them.

Streams Of Mercy

The first organization is actually run by my father Wick Nease, and is called Streams Of Mercy. Their main mission is caring for impoverished children and orphans throughout the world.

Streams Of Mercy

From their site:

The organization is actively involved in disaster relief, both man-made and natural, by mobilizing volunteers and resources to assist those in need.

Streams of Mercy strives to meet the most obvious needs of the destitute like food, clothing, shelter, and medical assistance, as well as meeting the less visible needs of care and comfort. Utilizing volunteers with genuine compassion means that resources can get to these individuals with a minimum amount spent on administrative services, thereby maximizing the impact of donations.

With over a dozen orphanages, and growing, Streams Of Mercy is doing so much to change the lives of countless helpless children and their families. (Please take the time to watch their video at the bottom of this post)

Love146

The second organization is called Love 146 (Formerly JFCI). Their mission is simple and clear: “End child sex slavery & exploitation!”

Love 146

From their site:

Love146 works toward the abolition of child sex trafficking and exploitation through aftercare, prevention and advocacy. Love146 trains aftercare workers, multiplies safehomes, aids socioeconomic development programs in high risk communities and provides a voice for these victims of modern-day slavery.

Please take the time to watch the following two videos, and consider what part you can take- whether it be giving, going or telling. The first is about Streams Of Mercy, and and the second is about Love 146:

Love146

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch these! For more information on how you can get involved, please visit their websites: streamsofmercy.org and jfci.org (I expect www.love146.com to be up and running soon). (more…)

A Big Day For Nintendo Updates

October 10, 2007 By: Kenny Johnson Category: Video Games 1 Comment →

Today has brought a lot of news from Nintendo. First, a long awaited Wii firmware upgrade that added USB keyboard support to the Internet Channel. In addition to this there’s been a lot of news from Japan. The most exciting of which is the new DS Download Channel for the Wii. This new channel will allow you to download DS demos from your Wii, similar to what Nintendo’s DS stations offer at select retail stores. Expect to see this new channel soon in the U.S.  It will be available in Japan in November.

Nintendo has also announced 4 new Wii Ware titles: Dr. Mario, Pokemon Ranch, Maruboushikaku, and Puzzloop with Everyone. (Wii Ware is the new channel expected to arrive in early 2008, and will offer downloadable Wii games for sale). In addition, 3rd party publishers have announced a Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles game, Star Soldier R, and Mojo Pittan. Nintendo has stated that they have received over 100 proposals for new games from 3rd party developers, so expect to see many more announcements in the coming weeks.

Sonic In Super Smash Bros.

Other big news includes the addition of Sonic as a playable character in the upcoming fighting game Super Smash Bros Brawl, as well as online co-op play in the “adventure mode”.

Spielberg Is Rushing Transformers 2

October 10, 2007 By: Michael Nease Category: Movies 1 Comment →

Transformers PosterIt looks like Transformers 2 might be coming sooner than expected. During a meet-and-greet on the Universal lot yesterday, Steven Spielberg reportedly announced that not only the story for the Transformers 2 screenplay will be turned in next week, but that they may begin filming as early as this year! Spielberg also confirmed that Shia LaBeouf will return as Sam Witwicky, stating:”Shia has a couple more Transformers ahead of him.”

I loved the Transformers movie, and am excited about the idea of a sequel, but I just really hope they don’t rush it and screw the story up. Too many sequels are ruined that way. Too early to know whether or not Michael Bay will direct, but I’d put my money on it. IMDB has the film slated for a June 2009 release with Ehren Kruger, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci in talks to team write the screenplay.

The first Transformers is due to release on DVD in just 6 days on October 16! My birthday is coming up in two weeks from today, so if anybody wants to get me a great present, this would be a great one! (I also accept Amazon gift cards, Mixed cans of popcorn and TV Shows on DVD.)

Beowulf Is Animated?

October 09, 2007 By: Michael Nease Category: Movies No Comments →

Ray Winstone & Anthony Hopkins in Beowulf

I guess I didn’t get the announcement, but somehow I missed the fact that the new Beowulf film starring Angelina Jolie, Ray Winstone and Anthony Hopkins is animated. I just saw the TV trailer while watching tonight’s episode of Chuck, and couldn’t help but notice that it seemed slightly like a video game, yet still very realistic. And then I noticed another big detail I had overlooked: it’s directed by Robert Zemeckis! So, I jumped onto IMDB to check it out, and noticed that it is animated in what appears to be the same motion-capture method used in Zemeckis’ The Polar Express.

I already knew the film had an amazing cast, but this makes me want to see it even more! I’m also beginning to think I’ve been living under some rock on the other side of the world! Did anyone else miss this? I need to get back to the real world! I do know however that the movie is slated to release on the 16th of November, and that I will be at the theater watching it.

Movie Buzz: McG’ + Vin Diesel = Terminator 4?

October 08, 2007 By: Michael Nease Category: Movies No Comments →

Terminator SkeletonRumor has it that Charlie’s Angels director McG is in talks to direct the fourth installment in the Terminator Series, and it looks like Vin Diesel might be in talks to be the next Cybernetic Humanoid. I’m by far not the biggest Diesel fan, but I think a movie like this is well suited for him. Apparently the role was previously linked to Dwayne “The Rock Johnson”. As far as McG goes, I don’t really have an opinion. I’d be interested in seeing what he does with it.

The plot at least looks interesting: “After the drastic effects of Terminator 3, the story continues as John Connor and soon to be wife Kate Brewster realize they must create a resistance organization with Earth’s remaining survivors against the army of robots slowly being built up by Skynet. As they are building this resistance, one survivor happens to be a traitor in disguise, and has a secret that nobody would ever come to suspect.IMDB

More as things progress…
